German and the Arts

Art is viewed as a universal birthright in Germany: The German government spends 40 times more per capita on the arts than the National Endowment for the Arts in the US! Proficiency in German thus opens a wide range of opportunities for and Arts Management , Theater, Art History, and Art majors.

The arts also play a pivotal role in the German program, which includes upper level courses on contemporary cinema and performance as well as theater courses that culminate in a live performance in German. The German program also offers a popular summer internship in Germany program that places students at jobs in Germany in their field of study for the summer, including at museums and theaters. These experiences have been transformative and a tremendous career boost. Just ask our alums!
